Ywam new orleans history
Youth With A Mission New Orleans had its beginnings, in 1982, shortly after a team of young radical YWAM missionaries participated in Mardi Gras outreach in New Orleans. While engaged in street evangelism in New Orleans various individuals from this team heard a call from God to relocate to New Orleans. These young YWAM missionaries responded to the call of God on their lives, knowing they would be apart of planting a permanent outreach ministry in New Orleans that would serve the needs of this city. These young pioneers packed up everything they owned in an old van, and moved to New Orleans to bring God’s hope and peace to this needy city.

What has transpired from this early team has been explosive.  Ministries sprang up that serve the needs of the people of New Orleans.  These ministries continue to express the heart and care of God to New Orleans. These ministries transform the youth and adults who participate with us year round, planting a vision in their hearts and their lives that their Christianity can make a difference in our society and world. Hundreds of teens and young adults, who took their very first missions trip with YWAM New Orleans are now full time missionaries, youth pastors and senior pastors. Thousands of babies have been born because of Living Alternatives YWAM New Orleans’ pro-life ministry. While witnessing on the streets of New Orleans crack cocaine addicts have become Christians and many of these former crack addicts left their street life to live at Hope House to learn responsibility, which includes family values, these ex-addicts later, became world changers in America and other nations of the world. Hundreds of teams from all over America and the world continue to gut homes with YWAM New Orleans; this labor-intensive job is demonstrating that God cares for their plight, and is touching the hearts of families and individuals throughout New Orleans.
